The pilot’s first priority is to control the aircraft and maintain its safety.
In a business context, aviate means to ‘run your business’ on a day to day basis ensuring that your business is operating smoothly and effectively.
Navigate
A pilot’s next priority is to navigate the aircraft to a safe location. This may involve changing course, descending to a lower altitude, or finding a suitable place to land the plane.
Once the business is operating smoothly, the next priority is to navigate it towards its bigger or future goals. This might involve setting and achieving specific targets, identifying and capitalising on new opportunities, or adapting to changes in the market or industry.
Communicate
A pilot should then communicate with air traffic control or other relevant authorities to inform them of the situation and request any necessary assistance.
It’s important to communicate with stakeholders, such as customers, employees, investors, and partners, to keep them informed about the business’s progress and to build and maintain positive relationships.
Although business coaching sounds like a simple concept, its not a term that provides a lot of clarity to what I provide or what a coaching session looks like.
